Niagara
Foundation to co-sponsor Turkoman Folk Music Ensemble
The exotic music and dance of the Turkoman Folk Music Ensemble
will highlight the vast repertoire of the Turkmen culture of the Caucasus
region in a performance at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. This Ensemble recently
received first-place in a contest in Italy. In addition to the performance,
an exhibit of the Turkmen material cultural, such as silver, musical instruments
and costumes, will be on display.
Both exhibit and performance are free and open to the public.
This event is cosponsored by the Niagara Foundation, and
the University of Chicago's Rockefeller Memorial Chapel,
Center for Middle Eastern Studies and Music Department.
